Beach People swimming Waves wheelbarrow

Rauhaniemen Kansankylpylä (Rauhaniemi Public Baths)

Rauhaniemi public baths were established in the year 1929. The rocky beach and the buildings are nearly in their original appearance.

There are two free public saunas in Rauhaniemi and during the summer time a small café is selling refreshments.

There’s also the original diving tower from the 1930’s. In the audio you can hear people installing the diving board into its place after the winter season. Sound of the waves is also distinct and the people are talking about the temperature of the water and swimming places in general.

The saunas, beach and summer café are all maintained by the Tampere Workers’ Swimming Club TaTU (Tampereen Työväen Uimarit). The club has also organized the ice-swimming facilities in Rauhaniemi since 1956.
