VR Class Dm7 ”Lättähattu” train

So called Lättähattu (flat hat in english) trains were built in the 1950’s and the 1960’s to compete with the increasing bus traffic on short distance travels.

VR Class Dm7 diesel multiple units were manufactured by Valmet in Tampere Finland.

Last diesel multiple unit flat hats were withdrawn from the traffic in 1988. Some trains are still preserved and used by museum train associations. They are used in festivals and other special occasions.
