About the sound
The carpet beater from the 1970s served as a household tool for cleaning carpets. This example is a privately owned keepsake. Differently than with a vacuum cleaner, the household dust and any other dirt was manually removed by beating the rug.
The carpet beater's impact on the carpet makes the typical pounding sound.
