1920s driving Engine farm Lanz Buldog Szreniawa tractor

Tractor Lanz Buldog HL 12 (driving)

The sound of the tractor Lanz Buldog HL 12 in operation. The recording was realized in the National Museum of Agriculture and Agricultural-Food Industry in Szreniawa (Poland).
Tractor with two-stroke Diesel engine. Single cylinder engine was placed horizontally and started by heating the hot bulb. In the past, special lamps were applied for this purpose. The farmer had to carry them with him to the field in case the engine stopped. During the recording session the hot bulb was heated with a gas burner. The tractor is not equipped with a gearbox, so in order to move backwards, it is necessary to reverse the engine’s rotation while driving.
