Eco Incineration Plant Krakow Soundscape

The Thermal Waste Conversion Plant (6): the flue gas purification hall

The soundscape recorded in the flue gas purification hall. Combustion gases pass through a heat recovery steam generator, an emission treatment installation, a gas exhaust fan, and a smokestack. The eco-incineration plant meets the emission standards for this type of installation. The emission requirements are more stringent for thermal waste treatment facilities than for fossil fuel burning power plants.

The recording was made at the Thermal Waste Conversion Plant (Eco Incineration Plant), located on the south-eastern outskirts of Krakow. The mixed municipal waste that finds its way there is incinerated, and the energy recovered in this process produces electricity for the plant or feeds the power grid. During the day, around 700 tonnes of waste are processed on two parallel lines at the Eco Incineration Plant.
