Steam Locomotives VR1 665 & Tk3 1132

In the recording you can hear a museum train leaving from the platform in Äänekoski.

The train is pulled by two steam locomotives: Vr1 665 manufactured by Hanomag in 1921 and Tk3 1132 manufactured by Tampella in 1945.

Steam locomotives were eventually replaced by diesel and electric locomotives gradually during the 1900s. Most of the steam powered locomotives were retired from traffic by the 1980s.

Nowadays steam locomotives are used for tourist and heritage rides.
