Christmas Saw Tree

Felling a Christmas tree

Decorating a Christmas tree is a traditional festive custom in many countries, including Slovenia. In the past, people in rural areas used to go to into the forest and cut an evergreen conifer – usually a spruce – by themselves. They didn't buy fancy decorations, but used whatever was available, such as nuts, dried fruit and home-made decorations.
Sound: Felling a Christmas tree with a manual saw of a type that is (locally) called a 'fox tail'.
