Combined heat and power plant (1): cooling tower
The recording was made at the heat and power plant PGE Energia Ciepła S.A. located in Krakow. The combined heat and power plant is the largest producer of heat and electricity for Krakow, it meets the needs of over 70% of residents, companies and institutions.
Cooling towers are chimney-shaped structures about 100m high. Their role is to cool the circulating water by about 8 Celsius degrees. The purpose of this is to provide efficient cooling for turbine condensers, turbine bearing lubrication oil and other heat consumers in a CHP plant.
