The hand lever draisine (age unknown) is a manually operated rail vehicle. It was used in the railway depot of Bochum- Dahlhausen for the inspection of railway lines, as well as short-range transportation of railway workers and tools. Today the hand lever draisine serves for visitor rides through the Bochum Railway Museum.
Its sounds are created by the rolling wheels on the rails and the up and down motion of the hand lever, which propels the vehicle. The draisine was named after its inventor, Karl Freiherr von Drais (1785-1851), who developed it at the start of the 19th century.
