Opel Kadett B: Running Engine
Opel’s models Kadett A and Kadett B and their successors have only been produced in the Opel plant in Bochum. The plant had been opened in 1962 as a result of structural change. Since collieries in the area had been closing since the late 1950ies, opening a new Opel plant brought many advantages for both Bochum and the Adam Opel AG: new jobs, skilled workers and enough space in the premises of former collieries. At its height 20.000 people worked there. However, structural change moved on. In 2014 the last Opel was produced in Bochum. The plant has been closed by now and deconstruction is moving forward.
The car recorded is a Kadett B, which was built in Bochum. The year of production, however, is unknown. You can hear its motor at various speed levels. The recording has been made in a garage at the Opel Museum in Herne. The recordist stood in front of the car, the bonnet was open.
