Barrier Lifting Railway

Level-crossing barrier – Lifting

A free-standing, hand-operated level-crossing barrier fitted with Südbahnwerk advance-warning ringing apparatus, manufactured in the 1880’s.
It was used in the Celje region until the 1950’s and entered the collection of the Slovene Railway Museum in 1989 after storage in the Signalling & Telecommunication Depot, Celje.
Sound of barrier lifting: By turning the (adjustable) handle on the cog drive in the opposite direction, the barrier is put in action via a chain transmission. The advance warning ringing apparatus is switched off.
