Keitelejazz Volunteer Work VI: Lifting the Main Tent

Keitelejazz is a summer jazz festival held in the small town of Äänekoski Finland. First Keitelejazz was held in 1985 and the festival has then grown steadily in size gathering international artists to perform in it.

Most of the work behind the festival is done by volunteers with the jobs ranging from tractor drivers to handymen and waiting staff.

In the audio you can hear the volunteer workers using a manual winch to lift up the main tent. It is a hard job where one can’t use mechanical aid. One or two workers have to go under the tent canvas and use the winch by hand to lift the canvas.
