#fridaysforfuture Munich II: Walking along with the Protest March

#fridaysforfuture is a youth protest movement that demands more dedicated climate politics. Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg started the movement, when she went on a school strike for three weeks in August 2018. Every day she sat in front of the Swedish parliament to protest against the lack of action on climate change. She has continued to strike every Friday. All over Europe many pupils have followed her example.

This recording was made on a #fridaysforfuture demonstration in Munich. A couple of hundreds of pupils demonstrated for climate justice. They started on Kaiser-Ludwig-Platz (close to Theresienwiese) and walked down Paul-Heyse-Straße towards Königsplatz passing Munich central station.

On their march through Munich the pupils played loud music from a bus, which led the protest. This was accompanied by various slogans the pupils chanted. In this recording four of them can be heard: “Hopp, hopp, hoop, Kohle Stopp!” (stop coal!), “What do you want? Climate Justice! When do you want it? Now!”, “Say it loud! Say it clear! Klimaschutz! Jetzt und hier!” (climate protection here and now!) and “Wir sind hier! Wir sind laut! Weil ihr uns die Zukunft klaut!“ (We are here! We are loud! Because you steel our future!).
